Privacy policy
Renamy is designed to keep file processing local. This policy explains the separate data flows of the website and desktop application.
Last updated: [DATE]
1. Who is responsible for your data?
The data controller is [LEGAL NAME], operating as Renamy in Spain. Contact: [email protected].
2. File processing stays on your computer
Renamy processes selected files, file names, paths, metadata, and supported document or image content locally on your device. The application does not upload your files or file contents to a cloud AI service for renaming.
Local AI inference uses the model installed on your computer. AI output can be reviewed before applying a rename.
3. Data stored locally by the application
The app may store rename history, original and resulting names, file paths, statuses, saved patterns, settings, a local device identifier, license cache data, and free-tier usage. This information is stored in local application data and is not automatically sent to Renamy.
You can delete local application data through the app when that control is available, or by removing Renamy’s application-data directory. Removing data may remove history, saved patterns, settings, cached license data, and downloaded models.
4. Model downloads and network requests
The local AI model is downloaded from Hugging Face during setup and stored locally. Network access is also used for license activation, periodic license validation, and application updates when those services are enabled.
5. Purchases and licensing
Polar acts as the merchant of record for purchases. Polar may receive your email address, payment information, license information, and activation data to process payment and manage the Renamy license. Renamy does not store your payment card details.
6. Website analytics
We plan to use Plausible configured for privacy-friendly, anonymous analytics. Renamy does not use advertising profiles or retargeting pixels. Analytics configuration will not intentionally include file names, file paths, file contents, rename history, or AI prompts.
7. Support and newsletters
Support messages sent through the website or by email may include your name, email address, message, and optional diagnostic attachment. Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain related support records.
If you join the launch waitlist, we store your email address, the computer platform you optionally choose, and the date you signed up, based on your consent. We use them only to tell you when Renamy is available and to send occasional launch updates. The list is stored with Resend (Resend, Inc.), which also delivers these emails. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any of our emails or writing to [email protected], and we will delete your entry.
Any future newsletter will also require explicit opt-in, and every message will include an unsubscribe option.
8. Optional diagnostic reports
Renamy does not automatically collect telemetry or crash reports. You may voluntarily export and submit a diagnostic report. It is designed to contain technical information such as app version, operating system, hardware summary, model status, and recent error codes—not file contents, file paths, file names, rename history, AI prompts, or license keys.
9. International providers
External providers such as Polar, Plausible, your SMTP provider, Resend (waitlist and launch emails), and Hugging Face may process limited data in countries outside the European Economic Area. We will use the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal data handled through the website and support channels. Contact [email protected]. You may also contact the Spanish data-protection authority.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the website, app, or providers change. The date above indicates the latest revision.
